WEDNESDAY JANUARY 19, 2011 SHOW WITH K-RISH AND MR FASHION

"Concentrate on finding your goal, then concentrate on reaching it."  -  Col. Michael Friedsman
K-RISH – DFW Fashion Photographer’s imagination and personalized attention fuse to create visuals that constantly redefine beauty.
Having K-Rish as my first fashion photographer guest was important, mainly because, in his limited time on the industry radar he has aggrandized it. Seeing the bar and making the decision to do what it takes to reach it.
My interview with Kevin revealed what I had assumed to be his chosen plan of attack to success…Education. His veridical approach to photography is evident in his published work.  Constantly educating himself in his craft and training himself on the industries modernized techniques.
Kevin also revealed that he had a passion for fashionable images long before photography was a realization. He would look at and collect fashion photos out of fashion magazines just out of shear affection for the craft.
His long term goal is to one day be an on staff fashion photographer for a major fashion magazine. I have no doubt that this goal will be realized sooner than he may be anticipating.
Short term, Kevin is focusing on many projects for this year. Producing his second Make up battle later this year and the opening of his first Dallas based studio this week has demanded all of his attention. Creatively position in downtown Dallas in the Deep Ellum area.

Expert Advice - Merry Christmas to all!!

This week’s show was full of what we love the best, and that is our listeners calling in with questions about the industry. What I have found is that the lack of real information about the industry is why we have such an over saturation of people just spinning their wheels trying all types of different things to accomplish having careers in the modeling industry.
Usually, people ask question hoping to get the answer that will allow them to pursue this career. Unfortunately, I sometimes have to give answers that they may not want to hear. Sometimes, I have to give the answer that will let them know that this may not be the career path for them.
Such was the case for a young gentleman that called in from Alabama. Standing 5’7” tall he wanted to know how to pursue the modeling career with his height.
Answer: Male models need to be tall, generally at least six feet. There are exceptions to the rule, but the rule is between six feet to 6’2. Basically they need to be able to fit into a size 40- regular to a 42-long jacket.
Male models walk the runway in the major menswear fashion shows. They also do a lot of catalog work. There are catalogs that will allow male models to be as short as 5’10, anything below that is usually unheard of.
Karen Michelle called in again today! Karen owns a PR Fashion Company that helps up and coming designers connect their designs with celebrities. Karen has an upcoming show that you don't want to miss.” Celebrity Fashion Experience” Thursday, December 30th for information on the event and to purchase tickets go to Karen’s web site. http://celebrityfashionexperience.eventbrite.com/
One of the questions concerning female models came from Dallas, Texas Donice wanted to know if she should consider pursuing a career in modeling in her forties or was it too late. – women’s age
Answer: Real-people models can be of all ages, from quirky kids featured in cereal commercials to feisty old ladies in fast-food commercials. Parts models can also be of any age, as long as their “part” looks young and beautiful, or it fits the image of the product being advertised.
Please feel free to comment on this or any blog on this site. We welcome open dialogue. If you have a question or simply want to make a statement..please feel free.

Mizani Educator Warren Burrell on Show

We had Mizani Educator Warren Burrell on the show with us Wednesday December 8 talking about hairstyling within the fashion industry for the models and who better to share with us than Warren. He places himself in positions to strive to be the best. As an educator for Mizani, a professional division of L’Oreal, Warren receives some of the best education this industry has to offer. Warren Burrell is a member of the CEA(cosmetology educators of America ), he is a licensed massage therapist, and also a licensed cosmetology instructor.

Warren Burrell has been licensed for 15 years. Within this time he has worked, consulted, managed, and opened casino salons and has accomplished the same for two of his own salons. As far as training, Warren has done corporate training, classes, hair shows, and assisted in the making of some educational DVD’s. Warren currently educates in a college in Dallas Texas and also works behind the chair. So what do women REALLY WANT? Truly healthy hair and a great cosmetologist to go along with it.

Warren expertise, however, goes beyond his training but rather is his core. Warren Burrell really knows what women want. As the youngest of three siblings, all girls, this definitely has had an impact on Warren working with women. The thrill of the hunt, a challenge, the quest for knowledge, all contribute to Warren ’s love for the cosmetology field.

Warren Burrell is of a different breed. He takes pride in his work as well as seriousness. Warren understands all things in the field require special training, and he receives it. Warren specializes in healthy hair, hair cutting, hair color, and the giving and receiving education.

Warren also is currently the chosen hairstylist for the Sebastian Fashion Model Management Photoshoots and may be contacted at:
